The Marion, Indiana, native and Marion High School graduate earned his associate’s degree from Vincennes University and a bachelor of science degree from Park College (now Park University) while serving on military base at Parkville, Missouri.

Tom also served nearly a decade with the Marion Police Department. He left as a detective investigating crimes against persons.

While working full time with MPD, he attended law school, receiving his degree from Western Michigan University’s Thomas M. Cooley School of Law.

Next, Tom served in the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office as a deputy prosecutor for seven years. He has been in private practice since.

An avid bird hunter and outdoorsman, he is married to a school teacher.
